The “Foreign” is a very common word to everybody who are live in or study in their own country, people think that is just a word. Instead, for the international students this word have very specially meaning, no mater witch country you come from, no mater witch country you study in or live in. Even to me, this word have very special meaning that is different with the dictionary, because I am a Chinese international student of American, “Foreign” means strange, new and tough to me.
Every word has the formal definition, According to “The AMERICAN HERITAGE thesaurus”, The word “Foreign” has two meanings, one of them is “From or characteristic of another place or part of the world”, other one is “Not part of the essential nature of a thing”. These two meanings show to us the “Foreign” can tell the object is not belong to a place is where it staying; other meaning is the object or person does not born or produce with the original characters. These definitions are very formally, in the real life this word can emerges some other importance.
In a famous story witch is “A place so foreign” witch is wrote by Cory Doctorow shows us a little boy James’s life, use other way to tell us what is the “foreign” to people, there mentioned James was remove three times, and each time makes him felt strange, so that is tell us the strange place is foreign to the people who are new of there. These just is a example to explain the “Foreign”. To me the foreign has the really different meaning.
I am a Chinese International student of America. When I first time came to U.S. every thing was strange to me, and I felt that time really hard. First of all is strange. I was very frustrate with the language, I can not communicate with any American people, because I do not speak English before I came U.S. Secondly, the new, I was missed my family and my hometown anytime, because every thing I just can do by myself, no conversation and no friends that is very different with before. The tough, Sometimes I felt really sad because every thing of American is totally different with Chinese, that makes me felt lonely and lose. I think All of these feelings are exactly meaning of foreign to me, this is my life of U.S. so far, also this is a real instance of “Foreign”.
Now, we can think about the “Foreign” whether can means strange, new and tough, not just is the meaning from dictionary. Every people have felt the feeling, maybe they already felt, maybe that will happen in future, because we live in the world, we do not know when we will face some new things, until the new things coming, we can understand the real meaning of the “Foreign”.

In American history, there were lots of people had contribution to American development, George Washington is one of them, he did lots of things to change American to better, and he was the first president of America. What is the most important thing to changed American history that he did? This question is good for people to think about who is really made America became the strongest country in the world over the time. Although George Washington made many contribution of the country, the most important one was that he formed a Continental Army of normal American people, and led them to win the War of Independence.

A Place So Foreign written by Cory Doctorow. This story talk about James’s life. James’s father was an ambassador of 1975. After they removed to 1975, his father disappeared, Then his mom removed back to the old place with him, but he felt very strage about anything in his old home, he was unhappy with this. His profesor Mr. Adelson help him to be more mature, and cure his mood getting better. When the Chrismas Day, Mr. Johnstone wanted marry his mom,and become his stepfather. Some hearsays around him about his mom going to marry with Mr. Johnstone, James felt very sad, then he just went to 1975 to cherished the memory of his father. The badthing happened to him that was he can not get out of 1975. During he was trying to get out of 1975, he met Pondicherry and Nussbaum, and he find out they were planning some bad business. Then Nussbaum let him bring some message to the Reddekop, finally Jame get back and tell the Reddekop message. In the end of the story he get the money with Mr. Adelson’s help but by the trust, then he decided leave the home to became a cabin boy to travel the world.

What was the most important thing Washington did to change American history?

What did George Washington do to change the US history?
What is the most important quality for George Washington to be a president?
How did people judge George Washington’s contribute?
How can he became the first president of United States?

I am most interested in the first question.

George Washington is a very important person of Unite States of America.  Everyone knows him, no matter young people or old people in America.  I am very interesting about his life, how does he became a successful person, and how does he leaded America to a strongest country of the world.  I just want to learn something from him.  First, I need to know something about him, so I choose this topic.

About the interesting story ”The curious case of Benjamin Button” there have lots of

similarities between the book version which worte by Scott Fitzgerald and the movie

version which direct by David Fincher, absolutely there are manydifferences between

those two versions.

Something similar is Both of the book version and movie version describe

that Benjamin was looked very old since he born; something else is because he looked

very old so his father did not like him; the third similar thing is when he grew up a little

bit every people thought of he is weird, and the other similar thing is about his

experience of life, he went to army and married with a girl, and he got more and more

young; The last similar thing is he got his baby.

About the difference between the book version and movie version have 4 point.

First thing of the difference is all the story’s actors are different. In the book version,

there are Benjamin and his father, mother and his wife ,son and grandson.

In the movie version, there are Benjamin his birth parents, his foster parents, his

wife and his daughter.

Secondly difference is the family environment. In the book version, when he

born, even though his father and mother felt he is weird, but they still raise him

up; in the movie version, his mom died when she birth him, and his father think

his birth with old face will let people laugh at him, then he discarded him, put

him in front of a black couple’s house, then them became his foster parents

raise him up. Another thing is his father met him and tell him his real family

when his father die.

Next difference about his marriage. In the book version, he met his wife in a

dance party, his wife liked him because of he looks old before they marry, his wife

like the mature man more than young guy, and then their relationship more and

more worse because Benjamin more and more young; In the movie version, he and

his wife just live in a geracomium which is his foster parents’ before they get marry,

his wife grow up by her grandmother, and they get marry was after he back from

the war, and they broke up after they got their daughter because Benjamin more

and more young and he want to give his daughter a real father, not just a friends.

The last difference is his life experience. In the book version, he grow up by his

birth parents, his father let him go to Yale University to be a freshmen of there, but he

get refuse from the Yale’s registrar, because she thought he is lied to her about his age.

After this he went to Civil War, then he go to Harvard University to study, after he

get his degree he got marry with his wife, and he went to army again, but he got send

back from army, the reason was he is so young, then he work in his father’s company

and get son and grandson, during he died he can not remember anything . In the movie

version, he get discard from his birth father and he grow up by his foster parents, when

he know some people, he start think about his life, he went to be a sailor, after that he

back to home, his father passed away and he met his wife, then he married her, they

got a daughter who is different with when Benjamin birth, Benjamin want to give his

daughter a good family environment so he divorce with his wife, since that time he

start his remaining years.

So these 4 differences are actor, family environment, marriage and his life

experience, All of these difference makes the book version and movie version

quit different, also there are some similar things between the book version and

movie version, they are Benjamin looked old and his father did not like him when

he born, and he went to army, got married with a girl, got younger, and born baby.

Both of these two versions are very interesting.

In 1845, Frederick Douglass wrote his autobiography “Narrative of the Life of

Frederick Douglass.”  In this book, he described his own story of his slavery life,

and his experience about how to escape from the master.  However, when he was

planning to escape with his group, they faced some problems and dangerous.

First, he was wondering his all group members united to face the problem, which

they would, faced.  Secondly, they still do not know which place security allowed

the freedom of slavery.  They do not know what would happen on their way to

escape, like how to get food and how to find a place to sleep.  There have a lot of

this kind problem need they have to face, so whenever they plan to escape, they

just have a little chance to be free.  If they lose, they would get return to their

master, even if they succeeded in escaping, they cannot sure they can be free.

Then hence, if they want to plan to escape, there were many difficulties.

Chapter 4 (3Questions)

Why Benjamin went to Yale to study? And how?

Why when Benjamin went to registar, they do not believe him is a freshman of Yale?

What was the people who are Benjamin’s classmate thinking about him in the frist school day?

Chapter 5 (3 Questions)

How did Benjamin know Hildegarde?

Why the Hildegarde think older man is better than young man?

What’s happened when Benjamin was twenty years old?

The Frederick Douglass was borned from a black slave woman. That’s means he

was a slave too, so absolutely he deprived of his freedom which was inevitable

and never has privilege. But his mother have no time to look after him and his

mother’s owner sold his mother when he was a little baby. His owner was an

impertinent person, in his childhood, that was kind of discontented. He was

a person who restless different with any other slave. When he was 7 or 8 years

old he went to an other slave owner, a very nice couple, the woman let him

study and always be nice to him, after he study some thing he want to contend

with the tradition, because he thought this tradition was improper and unfair

to the black people , he desired be free and he did a lot of struggle, and

determination to change this improper tradition. But how to change it,

How to evolution that’s make him very incompatible. He was abhor his identity,

he want to rid of it very much, but that’s kind of a biggest thing in the world at

that time. He just felt helplessness, some nice people who didn’t have slave

around Douglass, he felt they can help him, he always say some bad thing to

them, he want to effect them.

Deprived of    Privilege    improper   impertinent   restless   discontented

struggle  desire   determination   inevitable   contend with   incompatible   abhor
